Romance fiction.
by stephh(: on Oct.18, 2010, under Uncategorized
Romantic fiction is very big these days. There are books, movies, plays, t.v shows, and sometimes even t.v commercials involving romance. They can be all about romance, or there can be just a little bit of romance involved. Romance is usually in everyday life. People usually revolve or reley on romance. Weather its with a boyfriend/girlfriend, family member, or a wife/husband. T.v shows, movies, and books can sometimes also be written on a true story, but it is very rare, that you get a non-fiction romance novel.

Today we had Jason Bongers come to our school. He is from Parliament house in ACT and his job is to educate students on the Government.
We did a role play in the house of representatives. This is the green room. We were all pretending to be MPs. Our topic to debate on was should circus animals be banned from circus’. We debated about this, and eventually come to the decision after a vote, that they would all be banned. I was in the government side.
It was fun and different, and I enjoyed it.

Hobart
The Australian Antarctic Division (ADD) is based in Kingston.
Macquarie Island
Macquarie Island is a subantarctic island located in the Southern Ocean, approximately half way between Australia and Antarctica.
Casey
Casey is located in the Windmill Islands – just outside the Antarctic Circle – and is the third Australian station to occupy a site on Vincennes Bay.
Heard Island
Heard Island and McDonald Islands (HIMI) is a subantarctic island group located in the Southern Ocean, about 4,000 kilometres south west of mainland Australia.
Davis
Davis is the most southerly Australian Antarctic station and is situated 2,250 nautical miles south-south-west of Perth, on the Ingrid Christensen Coast of Princess Elizabeth Land.
Mawson
Mawson is situated on an isolated outcrop of rock on the coast in Mac.Robertson Land, at the edge of the Antarctic plateau. It is Australia’s first continental station and the longest continuously operating station south of the Antarctic Circle.

The Antarctic continent is a land mass covered with ice up to 4 km thick. The highest point is about 4 km above sea level. There is some exposed rock and the only plants are very small mosses and lichens (although it was once heavily vegetated – millions of years ago). Antarctica is the highest, driest, windiest, coldest continent in the world.
Height of Antarctica.
Snow in Antartica.
Antarctica is the driest continent on earth. The amount of moisture received by the polar plateau is comparable to that falling on the world’s hot deserts. For more information, see Ice, Ocean, Atmosphere and Climate.
Wind in Antarctica.
Antarctica is the windiest continent on earth. Winds flow down the coastal slopes under the influence of gravity. Speeds of these katabatic winds have been recorded up to 327 kilometers per hour. For more information, see Antarctic weather – meteorology.
Temperature in Antarctica.
Antarctica is the coldest continent on earth. The lowest temperature ever recorded on earth was minus 89.2°C at Vostok, in the Australian Antarctic Territory, in 1983. For more information see Dome Argus (the coldest place in the Antarctic Territory) and wind chill.
Size of Antarctica.
With all islands and ice shelves, Antarctica is nearly twice the size of Australia, covering 13,661,000 square kilometers. The Australian Antarctic Territory is 5,896,500 square kilometers (42% of Antarctica).
The closest country to Antarctica
South America, whose tip is shared by Chile and Argentina, is the closest continent to Antarctica. It is 1238 km from Ushuaia, the southern-most city of Argentina, to the Argentinian station, Vice Comodoro Marambio, at the tip of the Antarctic Peninsula.
Who owns Antarctica?
There are no cities or states in the Antarctic. The only places where people live are bases or stations, usually operated by national governments. Seven countries, including Australia, claim territory in Antarctica, but all of these countries have agreed to put their claims to one side and cooperate with other countries in studying and conserving Antarctica for the benefit of the world.
Claims for Antarctic Territory
The Antarctic Treaty was designed to provide an agreement for the future care and use of Antarctica, as well as the avoid territorial and other disputes. It encourages international co-operation in scientific research – it is an extraordinary agreement that was signed during the Cold War!
Where is Antarctica?
Antarctica is in the southern Hemisphere.

In S4L we are talking about resolving conflict. We have to write a letter, and give three solutions to the problem we have thought of ourselves. Here is mine:
Dear Ashley
About a week ago, I let my brother Bob borrow ten dollars off me.
He promised me he would give it back. I asked for it back recently, but he won’t give it back.
What should I do?
Here are three solutions that I have thought of myself:
-I could steal it back when he is out.
-I could talk to him about it, or tell our parents to solve the problem.
-Or I could just not worry about it, and let it most likely happen again.
Which one do you think is best?

In skills for life we have to do a ToonDoo on conflict, and have to have a resilotion. A ToonDoo is just like a cartoon comic.

Group assesment:
My group was very unorgansed. Me and two others got all of our part of the assinment finished. But the other two people didn’t. One of them, didn’t do any of the work, and the other one, forgot his usb memory stick, where all the work was saved on. I was away the day we had to present, so a member of the group I was in read mine out for me. Overall, I think my group was very unorganised, and I think we could have done alot better.
Assesment on myself:
I think I did very well. I finished all my work on time, and it was very well presented. I was away the day me group presented, but my teacher said my work was very good. Overall, I think I did well, I finished my work on time, and had done what I needed to do.
Rank:
1. I think I would have to say I did the best, because mine was finished on time, and well presented.
5. Liam, because he didn’t get anything finished.

by stephh(: on Sep.30, 2010, under Interesting infomation, School posts., Uncategorized
Gold is a type of metal. It has an economic number of 79. It can be found as nuggets, grains or rocks.
Recentaly, gold is becoming more expensive, and valuable. It is valued for it’s shine, and is fairly heavy. It can be used in medicains, or even cake decorations.
Gold comes from the Old english word meaning yellow. It used to be used for coins, but people started to realise how valuable it really is. Some people nowdays use it as an investment. But you can’t just hold it in your hands, it is kept in banks. There is a gold market, and some people buy from the gold market.
Gold is coming more and more valuable as we speak.
It can be worn as jewelary, such as rings, neaklaces, braclets and earings. A total of 165000 tones of gold, has been mined, scince 2009.

Term three ICT choices.
by stephh(: on Sep.23, 2010, under Interesting infomation, School posts., Uncategorized
Now that it is term three, we have to choose from a selection of ICT choices.
We have to choose from:
-A blogging challenge and bloggers cafe.
-Own research topic.
-The basics only.
-Taking risks.
I chose taking risks. If you chose taking risks, you had to do three different types of things.
The choices for this were:
-Glogster.
-Dance animation.
-Storybook.
-Stop motion.
-Passion blog.
-Video safety.
-Scatch game.
-Negotiate other.
I choose a Passion blog, A glogster, and a Story book.
A passion blog is a blog about something that you are really passionite about. The blog is dedicated to that one subject. Everything in that blog, is about the one subject you have chosen. My passion blog is about Bengal Tigers. I chose Bengal Tigers because they are endangered, and I think that they are cute. I created a new blog, and I will be doing it on that.
Here is a link, so you can cheak it out: Bengal tigers.
A glogster is like an internet poster. You can add whatever you want to it. You can add animation to it, links, pictures, words, and more. My glogster is going to be about music. Here it is:
A storybook is basicaly just a story on the internet. I am making it into a blog, but instead of a story, I am making it about my poetry. I will put all my poetry on the blog.
I am hoping that I do well with each one.
